Dwight Saunders Artist/Educator Born in Canada’s most eastern province, which is rich in the arts, he developed an early interest in art, crafts and textiles. Though mostly self-taught he did attend arts classes at University and studied with several Canadian artists. Dwight’s work has been featured on the pages of many national magazines and newspapers. Dwight owned and operated an art & design studio in Ontario before recently moving To St. Mary’s Newfoundland. Dwight now teaches art and sculpture workshops at Aura Escapes. He teaches day, weekend and 5-day emersion retreat workshops of all levels. St. Mary’s is only 1½ hours from St. John’s airport. Just outside his studio there is costal scenery and hiking for inspiration with fresh ocean air. Dwight enjoys working in mix medias, glass, textiles, acrylic and metals. Color & texture is most important to him as a designer, painter, sculptor, jeweler and fiber artist. He now enjoys teaching and creating works of interior and exterior spaces.
