Home, is the first solo exhibition by Labrador artist Sherry Turnbull. Turnbull started the pieces for this exhibition when she first heard of the discovery of 215 children who did not make it HOME from the residential schools. “These children and so many others should never have been taken, and should never have had to face the unimaginable things that they did. We need to remember what happened was unspeakable abuse that resulted in neglect, malnourishment, and a failure to treat sick children, which ultimately ended in death.” Sherry says. This minimalistic exhibition invites the viewer to contemplate the solitude and sadness of these indigenous children.
