The In-Between Place represents a meditative reflection on the human-altered landscape – specifically situated within a 70-acre plot of privately owned and preserved Acadian Forest, located in Upper Economy, Nova Scotia. The body of work is composed of a series of overlaid videos of the artist crocheting in different areas within this expanse of land, as well as an installation of the crochet form that resulted from this activity. The body of work considers ways that contemporary craft practices can intersect with critical dialogue surrounding issues of environmental exploitation, to take ideas of performative care and intentional good-doing traditionally associated with textile craft and re-associate these notions with our relationship to the land.
